Gioia Company Art & Italian Products will host their Fall Open House on Sunday, September 16, 2012, from noon to 6 p.m., featuring a variety of Italian products and gifts as well as the feature of art works by two extremely talented and renowned artists: Italian artist Carla Almanza-deQuant and famous stained glass and pumpkin glass artist, Tom Stanton.
As a special treat, glass artist Tom Stanton of Holy City Art Glass will also make an appearance at the Open House on Saturday to meet and mingle with guests; Stanton stated that the pieces featured at Gioia’s Open House will be a few stained glass pieces as well as a few glass flowers, his very popular heart glass art pieces (some with wings that remind me of those hearts so full of love they float), and of course his famous hand blown glass pumpkins that are perfect for the fast approaching Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays.
Stanton is a famous glass artist who has been selling his artwork all over the Bay Area for more than 30 years – in fact, Stanton is the original founder of the “Magical Glass Pumpkin Patch” in Los Gatos, with their annual event to be held on October 6 and October 7, 2012. Stanton’s Holy City Art Glass studio is nestled in the redwoods off Highway 880/17 (where the old Holy City post office used to be), a perfectly shady spot to create the magical art glass he does.
Stanton makes a wide variety of glass art and will be available at the open house to answer questions, mingle with guests and discuss his incredible, magical glass art. In fact, Stanton mentioned he’s frantic and excited as his daughter is getting married in a few weeks; and they are apparently still on the hunt for a Beatles cover band for his daughter’s wedding. I bet right about now he’s wishing there were eight days in a week with all that needs to be done, although everyone is no doubt by now in full realization that that although money can’t buy love – in the end – “All You Need Is Love.” Best wishes to the happy couple and may they have the wedding of their dreams.
Gioia Festa Open House should be an amazing event with so many wonderful gifts from extremely talented artists such as Italy and Venice; and whether in search of a particular holiday, custom or wedding gift, or just hoping to browse the Italian products such as olive oils, inlaid wood from Sorrento, Murano glass jewlry, art glass, Venetian masks and sculptures, Italian ceramics painted in Florence, Vietri and Deruta or some other unique treasure – this Open House promises to be one of the best events of the season.
The incredible art works of Italian artist Carla Almanza-deQuant will also be featured with masks, wine bottles and assorted sculptures for those who know Almanza-deQuant’s work. Almanza-deQuant is an artist who did most of her studying in Italy although she is well known for her Venetian-style masks and sculptures; she has also done some incredible work with some of the local wineries with recycled wine bottles, such as with her “Trinity Project” where some or all of the proceeds have been donated to local charitable organizations, schools, parks, etc. Almanza-deQuant, like Stanton and Gioia, are huge supporters of their communities and do all they can to give back.
Almanza-deQuant will also be hosting her mask making class on Saturday, September 15, 2012, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in her downtown Campbell studio. Be sure to visit her website or inquire with Gioia at the Open House about the mask making classes as they are a lot of fun and the masks are of the highest quality, Venetian-style masks that can be worn or showcased as beautiful art pieces. With the holidays approaching, these masks make great fine art to be worn at masquerade balls or as gifts, customized with jewels and embellishments of grandmothers and loved ones; the techniques are styles unlike any other taught in the area. For more information, contact Almanza-deQuant via her website as registration is required.
As a very special treat for all who attend the Gioia Fall Open House and Examiner readers a special 15 percent discount can be received on Gioia merchandise that is purchased at the Open House or on the website during the month of September 2012; the discount is good through the entire month of September 2012 for online orders, including regular and sale priced Gioia items only.
