With a pocket full of kindness, charity and good will, a Hollywood dream is realised.
Marty Docherty is a Scottish actor from Castlemilk in Glasgow who has just been given his big break playing alongside Tom Hanks’ in Warner Bros hit Movie ‘Cloud Atlas’. Sitting in a pub with his friend film maker Ian Bustard, Marty entertained his friends with tales of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent and Susan Saradon, and thus the concept was born to make a documentary called ‘Marty Goes To Hollywood’. The premise of the movie was to show the audience in detail Marty’s experience in Los Angeles as he lived the life of a Hollywood actor, hopefully with him ending his week on the red carpet at the premiere of Cloud Atlas with all the Hollywood A list royalty.
The first goal was to raise the funds to help start Marty on his quest to see how the Hollywood dream really worked. His kind friends and loyal neighbours in Glasgow, Scotland started a campaign to get him to the premiere in Hollywood which was on October 24th. The clock was ticking. Finally, the money was raised to get Marty on his way and the dream began! Marty, film makers Ian Bustard and Martyn Robertson and their loyal assistant Chris headed over to Los Angeles for a mind blowing week to document Marty’s journey. They took meetings with agents, attended acting classes and networked all they could in the Hollywood circles, whilst staying at a not so glamorous local hostel, not very Hollywood at all, but their spirits were undaunted, they stayed positive and let fate be their guide.
Luckily for them, the unwavering kindness that was extended in Glasgow reached this side of the Atlantic too as Marty and his crew luckily connected with an organisation called BRITSINLA, founded by fellow Brits Eileen Lee & Craig Young, they, in turn introduced the team to the peakPRgroup and together they embarked on their goal to secure tickets for Marty to attend the premiere. After many hours of calling and emailing friends, contacts, basically anyone who would listen, tickets were secured! Warner Brothers provided Marty with his tickets and he got to go to the after party too at the luxurious Soho House! Two tickets were also secured by friends of Britsinla, not too shabby, now the four of them could attend.
To get ready for his big night on the red carpet Marty even got to experience the Hollywood pampering at Santa Monica’s TIKKUN medical spa, he was treated to luxury complimentary treatments and was able to indulge in pampering and a little rest and relaxation after a non stop week!
The perfect end to a terrific story built on a dream that was realised with kindness that stretched far across the Atlantic.
