Just as “50 Shades” author E.L. James revealed during her interview with Ryan Seacrest this Friday, September 28, that she’s a big fan of “The Vampire Diaries,” actor Ian Somerhalder recently talked to “E! News” this weekend about the Christian Grey casting role as well.
Of course, Christian is nothing without his Ana—and according to a recent “Books and Review” poll that ended this Friday, Emilia Clarke received the most votes for a potential Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie.
Ian Somerhalder has long been a fan favorite for Christian Grey after many a sultry scene in “The Vampire Diaries”—alongside many other talented actors considered for the role—and confirmed his interest in the bestselling erotic novel late this week.
After (jokingly or not) admitting that he’s been continuing to read the “50 Shades” trilogy on his iPad for some privacy lately, he added in response to a question about the audition process for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film:
“I think that it’s going to be a really interesting story to tell … It seems to me like whoever ends up playing that role, it will be an even more interesting rehearsal time and audition process.”
Even when pressed about his thoughts as to who should also be cast alongside Christian for the part of blue-eyed Ana Steele, the actor shied away from a more telling answer:
“My [ideal] Anastasia? I don’t know yet … there are too many [Hollywood actresses] to name!”
Speaking of Anastasia Steele, according to one of the latest “Books and Review” character casting polls for the “50 Shades” phenomenon, Emilia Clarke came out on top, narrowly claiming a victory over fellow nominees Alexis Bledel (with Matt Bomer), Alexandra Daddario (with Ian Somerhalder), and Lucy Hale (with Alexander Skarsgard).
Emilia Clarke’s name and acting skills have certainly been seen on the rise since the arrival of her role on “Game of Thrones,” the popular HBO television series. She plays a “dragon queen” of sorts on the epic fantasy show, and the actress has said that she has quite a bit of experience with nude scenes already straight from the throne room.
Interestingly enough, Clarke’s win was accompanied by a running mate in Christian Bale, who is also a contender for the role of Christian Grey, though his older age might be considered an issue for some fans of the captivating series. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, along with Henry Cavill and Ashley Greene, were also considered in the paired running.
Aside from seeing your favorite Christian Grey actor or Anastasia Steele actress on stage alone, who would the great “50 Shades” fans cast together as the hottest forbidden love couple between the pages (and soon to be on set in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie)?
