While several new stars this month have expressed an interest in starring in the hotly awaited “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, longtime fan favorite Alexandra Daddario recently talked this Wednesday, October 24, about the Anastasia Steele casting role as well as her views on who could play an ideal Christian Grey.
Although the dominant, passionate, and—let’s face it—downright irresistible Christian Grey is often the core of many fan castings in EL James’ bestselling erotic novel’s take to the silver screen, the part of Anastasia Steele, his innocent, blue-eyed brunette beauty, is no less a key role to cast. Her blossoming infatuation with the CEO and his wild lifestyle beneath a cool exterior in many ways acts as the lens through which the reader is similarly experiencing this breathtaking self-journey.
According to reports from “Gather Entertainment” this week, Alexandra Daddario is one of the latest fan favorites to open up about a potential casting role in the “50 Shades” adaptation. Her physical description, no doubt—with those wide blue eyes, dark brown hair, and attractive features that Ana herself never seems to be aware at the onset of the novel—certainly do fit within EL James’ text description, at least.
Of course, the talented Alexis Bledel of “Gilmore Girls” currently leads in many fan casting polls for Anastasia Steele, although fellow nominees Emilia Clarke, Felicity Jones, Ashley Rickards, and Alexandra Daddario are never far behind.
Alexandra Daddario was Ana-esque coy in her most recent response to being asked about her interest in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film. “Wetpaint” reports that the actress has admitted to not reading the books yet, although she “plans to in the near future” and thinks it’s very “flattering … and awesome” to be considered as one of the fan favorites for the blockbuster-anticipated installment.
The “White Collar” actress does seem to at least be aware of the casting polls currently going on between fellow 50 Shades” fans as well as Christian Grey himself, as upon being asked as to who should play the Red Room of Pain lover:
“I love Alexander Skarsgard … Though I really love Matt Bomer, too. Anyone at this point, really. There are so many great people out there!”
It’s no surprise that Daddario supported Matt Bomer, as the talented actor worked with her on “White Collar,” a popular TV series. And so far, Matt Bomer seems to be doing very well among many fans of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film franchise for the part of Christian Grey in the polls. Ian Somerhalder of “The Vampire Diaries,” Alexander Skarsgard of “True Blood,” as well as Alex Pettyfer and Henry Cavill are also ranking high among fans for the role.
Although the “50 Shades” trilogy has sadly come to an end, author EL James’ inner goddess has hinted at a possible fourth novel (possibly from Christian’s perspective, as that ending teaser certainly whetted appetites), and with the movies of course on the horizon, there will be more than enough love between the pages and sheets for a long time to come.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” film is slated for a 2014 U.S. release.
