While many travel great distances to catch the changing foliage come fall, in the end, no matter how spectacular, you’re still just staring at leaves. Ditch the leaves and plan your fall excursion around one of these festivals instead.
1. City Bisco
Who: The Disco Biscuits, Brothers Past, Diplo, RJD2, Paper Diamond, OTT, A-Trak, Aeroplane, Papdosio, among others.
What: The Disco Biscuits and friends invade the Mann Center in their hometown. Four sets of Biscuits over two nights accompanied by some of the hottest DJs currently touring make for an epic summer sendoff in the city of Brotherly Love.

2. Virgin Mobile FreeFest

What: Book huge acts for one massive day of music outside of Baltimore. Let everyone in for free. Virgin Mobile gets it.

3. Austin City Limits
Who: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, The Black Keys, Jack White, Florence & The Machine, Iggy and the Stooges, The Roots, The Shins, Weezer, Two Door Cinema Club, The Afghan Whigs, and many more.
What: Austin lives for music festivals. For those that prefer to catch all of their music in one place and not have to worry about possibly getting shut out, ACL is a much more relaxed way to take in music in Texas’ capital city.

4. Treasure Island Music Festival
Who: Divine Fits, The xx, Girl Talk, The Presets, Best Coast, The War on Drugs, Public Enemy, Youth Lagoon, Ty Segall, Grimes, Dirty Ghosts, among others.
What: Treasure Island is a small island located between San Francisco and Oakland. Instead of doubloons though, the booty on this weekend is a plethora of hip-hop, electronic and indie acts.

5. Voodoo Music and Arts Experience
Who: Green Day, Neil Young, Justice, Kaskade, Silversun Pickups, Die Antwoord, Jack White, Awolnation, Gary Clark Jr., The Avett Brothers, K’naan, Toots and the Maytals, Bootsy Collins, among others.
What: What better place to celebrate Halloween than the Big Easy? Three days of music in New Orleans and you’ll probably feel like the walking dead…
