This month, Style360 welcomed the return of Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne presented by Inglot Cosmetics. Avril Lavigne presented her spring collection in a high-energy format with a special guest appearance by the youngest Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, Kylie Jenner who walked in the show.
quadrust.com was on the red carpet after the presentation. Check out what Avril had to say:
Q: Tell us about the event today.
Avril Lavigne: So tonight we just had a fashion show for Abbey Dawn and I’m really excited to be showing you guys all the new collection for Spring-Summer 2013. We’ve been working really hard at coming up with awesome pieces and it’s really great to have Kylie Jenner here with us tonight modeling for the second year in a row rocking the runway, and it’s all about just celebrating fashion. My line is about being rock-and-roll, free, expressing yourself, being wild, being crazy.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing about being in rock-and-roll and having the clothes in that genre?
Avril Lavigne: I’m a chick, I love clothes, and I’m also in the entertainment industry, so I’ve done a lot of photo shoots, video shoots, red carpets. So I learned very quickly that fashion is going to be and will be a big part of what I do. So I pretty much design pieces that I would love to wear on stage or in my personal life. I travel a lot. I get a lot of inspiration in Tokyo. I’m in Japan so much. So I just kind of love clothes like every girl, and we go for a rock-and-roll vibe.
Q: Tell us about your shoes.
Avril Lavigne: The shoes are really awesome. I don’t typically wear heels, but tonight I’m wearing heels because I’m wearing wedges from my line and they’re actually really comfortable. I think it’s important to find a line that suits your body, your body type, that you’re comfortable in. Abbey Dawn is all about expressing yourself, it’s for the girl who wants to have fun with her fashion.
Q: Where did you get inspiration for tonight’s show?
Avril Lavigne: The inspiration for Abbey Dawn comes from my personal style when I travel and I’m on tour. You know, I check out different stores but also I look at the fan base, I look at the crowd, like a lot of it comes from Tokyo in Japan. Girls have like the gnarliest fashion sense. I love going shopping in Tokyo and I get a lot of inspiration from their fashion over there.
Q: What are some of your favorite pieces from your collection?
Avril Lavigne: We have a very fun jacket with Mohawk. I always say it’s worn to be comfortable, I like to be casual. Abbey Dawn is all about, you know, you can dress it up and dress it down. And I love black, I love red. You’ll see a lot of red in this collection and orange and of course skulls and studs and acrylic spice.
Q: What about your beauty must-haves?
Avril Lavigne: I’m all about kind of preserving hair and face, you know, conditioning products and staying out of the sun.
Q: Would you ever consider designing your own wedding dress, since you’re a designer?
Avril Lavigne: Yeah, I would. I’m kind of thinking about it right now. It’s either something that I’m going to design or collaborate with a designer.
Q: What do you think it would look like?
Avril Lavigne: Badass! [Laughs]
Q: What was so special about Chad’s proposal?
Avril Lavigne: What was great about it was the fact that it was really natural and we met in the studio and we’re friends for a while. And one of our last days in the studio was when he proposed and that was super romantic and had a lot of meaning behind it.
The after-party was held at CATCH Roof, where Avril partied with her closest friends until about midnight.
