The New England Patriots announced on Sept. 30 that it looks like tight end Rob Gronkowski will be able to play in the game against the Buffalo Bills. Gronkowski, one of fantasy football’s premier tight ends, was suffering through a hip injury. Here is all the fantasy football info you need to know in the Patriots vs. Bills Week 4 game.
New England Patriots
Tom Brady – Despite his team being 1-2, Tom Brady has been playing well. He has 887 yards with four touchdowns and only one interception on the season. In Week 4 against Buffalo, Brady is a solid No. 1 fantasy football starting quarterback in all leagues.
Stevan Ridley/Danny Woodhead – Never start a New England Patriots running back in fantasy football. In Week 1, Ridley got 125 yards and a touchdown. In Week 3, Woodhead got into the end zone. No running back on this team has been consistent since Corey Dillon.
Wes Welker/Brandon Lloyd – Wes Welker was having the worst start to a season of his career but improved in Week 2 with a 95 yard performance and then exploded in Week 3, with eight receptions for 142 yards. He hasn’t scored a touchdown yet, but he is a No. 1 receiver. The Pats want Brandon Lloyd to be their next Randy Moss and he has been great in PPR leagues (22, 237 yards), but also hasn’t scored a touchdown yet. Start him all fantasy leagues as well.
Rob Gronkowski/Aaron Hernandez – Aaron Hernandez is still injured, and that has not accounted for more action for Rob Gronkowski. In Week 3, he only had two receptions for 21 yards and was held out of the end zone for the first time this season. He should have an easier time against Buffalo and should stay in all fantasy lineups.
Ryan Fitzpatrick – After the first week of the season, where he only threw for 195 yards and his three interceptions offset his three touchdowns, Fitzpatrick has been much improved. He still doesn’t throw for many yards but has five touchdowns over the last two games and faces a New England defense that is poor against the pass.
Fred Jackson/CJ Spiller – This is a gamble no fantasy football owners should make. CJ Spiller left Week 3 with an injury and remains questionable for Week 4. Fred Jackson came into the season with big-time ability but has not played yet and is also questionable. If either man starts, they could be a great option but they are also playing hurt. The third running back Tashard Choice could also be a solid fantasy player but no one knows who is going to play.
Steve Johnson/Donald Jones – Steve Johnson has not passed the 70 yard mark in any game this season but has a touchdown in all three of them. In touchdown only leagues, he is an automatic start. In others, he is a low No. 1 starter and a great No. 2 man. Donald Jones is a quality player but offers fantasy owners nothing.
Scott Chandler – Scott Chandler is the only fantasy tight end no one talks about but he remains a low-end starter due to his size and skills in the red zone. He has two touchdowns in the season with eight receptions for 113 yards.
