On Oct. 5, the Chicago Bears listed Matt Forte as probable for their game with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Forte has been hurt for much of the season and aggravated his ankle in Week 4, but should be good to go. Here is a look at the Bears vs. Jaguars fantasy options, and whether owners should choose to start ’em or sit ’em for the game.
Jay Cutler – SIT – Jay Cutler has been inconsistent this season. He had a solid first week and then didn’t break 200 yards in the next two games with five interceptions He bounced back against Dallas, with 275 yards and two touchdowns. Jacksonville is not great against the pass, but Cutler is only a bye week replacement in Week 5.
Matt Forte – START – Matt Forte is playing hurt, but he is playing and is one of the best backs in the NFL when healthy. Even though he has started off poorly, the Jaguars give up 27 fantasy points to fantasy running backs, so you have to start him.
Michael Bush – FLEX START – While starting a backup running back is normally frowned upon, the poor play of the Jaguars rushing defense added to Forte’s ankle problems makes Bush a solid flex starter.
Brandon Marshall – START – Brandon Marshall is Cutler’s best target but he struggles the same weeks that Cutler does. In this game, against a low-level defense, Marshall needs to start.
Devin Hester – SIT – Hester has five receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown on the season.
Kellen Davis – SIT – Kellen Davis has six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown this year.
Blaine Gabbert – SIT – Gabbert hasn’t thrown for over 200 yards since Week 1 and only threw for 53 yards in Week 2. He doesn’t throw many interceptions but isn’t worth owning in fantasy.
Maurice Jones-Drew – START – Jones-Drew faces the NFL’s third ranked rushing defense this week, and coming off his 38 yards Week 4 performance, he is a scary option. However, Jones-Drew is hard to bench. Don’t expect No. 1 running back numbers.
Justin Blackmon – SIT – Justin Blackmon is playing like a rookie, which is expected. He is not a starter in any fantasy league right now.
Laurent Robinson – SIT – Laurent Robinson was one of the biggest surprises of 2011 when he played for Dallas. In the last two weeks, he has one reception for 19 yards.
Marcedes Lewis – SIT – Coaches say Marcedes Lewis needs to be more involved in the offense. Fantasy owners should see it to believe it.
The Bears vs. Jaguars game kicks off at 4:05 p.m. EST.
