Now that it’s officially fall it’s time to delve into our closet and bring out all of our favorites from last season. And though I’m a Florida girl, I always take pride in dusting of my boot collection and readying them for the whole month of cold weather where I’ll ‘need’ them. Of course the weather rarely stops me from dawning them with just about every outfit during the not so winter season we have here, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.
While we love looking at some of our oldies but goodies there’s always a joy in buying a new pair of strapping boots just to fulfill that urge to have something new and on trend for the upcoming season. So with that being said, I’m going to highlight a few of my favorite boot trends and guidelines for collecting a new pair for Fall and Winter.
The Chunky Heel
Say goodbye to those unstable stiletto boots and embrace a more sturdy, chunky heel. Whether it’s over the knee or just above your ankle styles, you’re bound to be on trend with whatever suits your style best. Grab them in a neutral and I promise they’ll be your go to boot as season long. I especially love the Passport (under $100) from Baker’s because it’s a classic style that comes in a durable leather, and has a side zip for easy access. Plus you can choose from black or brown, or both!
The Ankle Boot
This little darling is ideal for us Florida gals since we almost have no need for those higher on the leg styles. It keeps us on trend while wearing ‘boots’, and has no plans of deserting us anytime soon. Try playing with textures like fringe, suede or if you’re feeling really bold, a print. If you’re feeling fiery try Madden Girl’s Zealous (under $50), with just enough print to make any outfit pop.
Go For Color
Sometimes neutrals don’t cut it when searching for that ideal boot, which brings us to experiment with color. And being that fall is such a great time for those rich, indulgent hues there’s no better time than now to add a splash some color to your wardrobe. One of this season’s must haves just so happens to be Oxblood, it’s bold enough to make a statement but deep enough to go with just about anything. Afraid to Splurge? Grab Sole Society’s Helena for $70, they’re spot on trend without breaking the back. Pair them with tights or your favorite skinnies.
