Fall brings a wide range of activities and holidays for everyone, especially scrapbookers. Beautiful photos of fall color tours, cute pictures of the kids in Halloween costumes and cherished family gatherings on Thanksgiving to name just a few.
One event that is often a favorite fall adventure here in Michigan is a trip to the cider mill. Taking a hayride out to the orchard to pick your own apples and then going back to the mill for refreshments. Who can resist the smell of the freshly made cider and donuts that emanate from the mill? This year because of the unseasonal early blooming of the apple trees, many orchards are not offering u-pick apples. Oh no, you might say, what about my photo op and the great scrapbook layouts they would make?
How about a different take on the annual event this year? Why not try a slightly different slant on the typical cider mill trip. Rather than concentrate on the apple picking, concentrate on the hayride, cider, donuts and the other items the mill has to offer. Photo ops are plentiful here as well and the local scrapbook stores offer many new fall supplies that will add to some wonderful layout possibilities.
Bo Bunny has Apple Cider, Karen Foster Designs offers Bushel of Blessings, Farm House Paper Company gives us Sugar Hill, Reminisce features Harvest and Lily Bee presents a collection kit entitled Autumn Spice. All these use supplies use the beautiful colors of fall which allow the scrapper to use photos of cider, donuts, hayrides and apple picking, should you be so lucky to be able to find some u-pick orchards.
This is a wonderful time of year and just because Mother Nature threw us a loop with the unusual spring weather this year, we can still pursue our passion – scrapbooking. Think outside of the box and have a fabulous fall.
