“Eternal Descent: Heavy Metal Heroes” developer Tom Page, from London-based PLA Studios said he wanted to make sure the company’s newest iOS title was in the same league as the cult favorite IDW comic book series it’s based on, ReviewFix.com reported today.
The development process, Page said, was no walk in the park.
“We had a very specific idea in our heads about the way the game would look and it was something we were not prepared to compromise on,” Page told ReviewFix. “Given how amazing the comic art looks in every issue, the game environment just had to do it justice if it was to bear the name. This turned out to be much harder than we expected and we learned a lot about optimization, Unity 3D and the capabilities of the Apple mobile devices we were targeting.”
A 3D side-scrolling beat-em-up, the game pits Sirian, a nomadic warrior, armed with only a magical guitar, against a ton of demonic enemies. The game also features rockers Joe Satriani, Misha Mansoor (Periphery) and Andrew W.K., as well as Wayne Static and Michael Amott.
Page also told Review Fix that PLA is planning on a series of updates to the game in the near future that will add new characters and content.
“Eternal Descent: Heavy Metal Heroes” is now available on the App Store.
