Recently, my family and I returned to EPCOT after what seemed like a lengthy absence from this, our favorite theme park. Now, I must say that a lengthy absence to us is a time adding up to months rather than years. After all, my lovely wife has worked at WDW for a long, long time and still does. But schedules, budgets, home projects, school and other daily challenges are what they are, so it’s been difficult to make a visit.
But we were able to spend the day in order to catch up and see any new additions and, honestly, enjoy it as we always do. After all, every day is Oktoberfest in Germany…
I was pleasantly surprised to see the fresh updates and improvements in several areas throughout the park. The boat ride in Mexico has been refreshed (allowing the children more to enjoy) from the rather sober and flat ride it once was.
The American Adventure has received a few updates in order to remain relevant. The ending now has numerous clips bringing it to the present, while still keeping the entire presentation as wonderful as ever.
One improvement, or the numerous improvements to one attraction, we enjoyed were the updates done to several of the Audio Animatronics within Spaceship Earth. The movements of several of the Animatronics are more fluid and realistic, doing away with some of the old and annoying robotic maneuvering. My eye first caught this in one of the earlier scenes where the old Greek play is going on. Further, the scene before the cave scene (Oombaday) is now updated with a very nice panorama featuring hunters surrounding a Mammoth rather than the old snapshots they presented.
The Living Seas has enjoyed the recent updates featuring scenes from Finding Nemo for a while now, but I am not sure how much of that is truly new.
While I have been writing these Disney articles for some time because of my extensive knowledge and background within the parks, issues and schedules have forced me away from the parks for some time. So, I have refused to write new articles without having fresh knowledge, mainly because I don’t want to fake it and make stuff up to keep the articles flowing. I could likely get away with it, but I would know within my own mind I did such a thing. The thing is, it seems now I will be able to return more often and pass on yet more topical information about the parks and bring you what is sure to be the best in 411 on all things Disney parks.
So, watch for more articles by me, and rest assured you’re receiving the best of the best.
Hey, things are soon opening in the Magic Kingdom’s FantasyLand! Oh, when I see that (and likely could well before the public, because that’s how I roll), I’ll be sure to pass on the accolades and opinions. Watch for all of that coming soon!
