Located in the southwestern part of Lenexa, Kan. is a Falcon Ridge Golf Course. Falcon Ridge is an 18-hole championship course with rolling hills and elevation changes. The course has four tee boxes to test the skill level of every golfer. From the front tees the course measures 5,160 yards and from the black tees 6,820 yards. Water comes into play on several holes.
Number one is a par four that is uphill with two bunkers on the left side of the fairway. Don’t let your tee shot go too far right or it could end up on the driving range. The green is protected by a bunker on the right front.
The second hole calls for a downhill tee shot to a fairway with trees on the right. Out-of-bounds runs along the left and right side of the hole. A lay-up may be in order as there is a pond at the end of the fairway. Hills and a small bunker protect the green.
An uphill tee shot to a slight dogleg right meets the golfer off the tee at number three. Trees are heavy on the left side of the fairway at the front, but then lighten up closer to the green. There is a fairway bunker on the left and two greenside bunkers on the right.
Accuracy is the most important part of the tee shot on number four. There are two bunkers on the left and one on the right side of the fairway. Once past the bunkers steep hills line the left side to the green. Try to stay off the side of the hills to provide an easier approach shot.
Number five is the first par three and requires a shot over or right of the large bunker at the front of the green. Deciding to go right can also prove hazardous, since there is a large bunker on the right side of the green.
Number six starts off flat with heavy rough on the right side of the fairway. About half-way to the green the fairway goes slightly downhill and then drastically uphill to the green. There are fairway bunkers on each side and short of the green. Two additional bunkers are at the front left and right of the green.
The second par 3 is slightly uphill to a green with bunkers on the right. Out-of-bounds runs along the right side and into the trees. Trees also line the left side of the cart path close to the green.
The last par 5 on the front is an uphill tee shot to a narrow fairway. The fairway has multiple variations in width all the way to the green. A small bunker is on the left side of the fairway just short of the green. Bunkers are on the left and right side of the green that slants from back to front.
The finishing hole is a slight dogleg right with a fairway bunker on the left. Two small bunkers are on the front and middle right side of the green.
