Scottsdale, Ariz. resident Danica Patrick is trying to find a ride for the 2013 Indianapolis 500, per a recent ESPN.com report. Currently she competes in the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup series and has raced seven-times at the fabled Brick Yard, with a career best finish of third in 2009.
“I feel like I’d still be able to get in a seat and get comfortable with the amount of practice time there is in Indy and have a shot to win the race,” Patrick said. “But again, if I don’t have a shot to win the race or feel like it’s a real opportunity, then I am not going to do it.”
The Indy 500 is annually scheduled for Memorial Day, May 27 in 2013, which is the same day that the NASCAR Sprint Series holds the Coca-Cola 600 in Concord, N.C. Robby Gordon and reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart have run both races in the same day. The two tracks are approximately 600-miles apart, with the Indy 500 being run earlier in the day then the Coca-Cola 600.
Patrick is currently under contract with Stewart-Haas Racing for the NASCAR Sprint Cup series and she would likely be contractually obligated to participate in NASCAR’s Memorial Day race. Patrick also races for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series
