Ballroom and country dance styles are like polar opposites right? Well they were until the wildly popular dance competition “Dancing with the Stars” decided to combine the two on October 29, 2012 with an all new “All-Stars” season debut of “country night”. This new “DWTS” challenge required the remaining eight celebrity contestants to perform “countrified” versions of classic Ballroom dances.
Sabrina Bryan and “DWTS” pro, Louis Van Amstel delivered an exquisite country infused Rumba to Hunter Hayes’ hit, “Wanted”. The judges were impressed awarding the pair a perfect score of 30 for a performance worthy of “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” season. Apolo Anton Ohno and partner Karina Smirnoff also earned a perfect 30 judges points for their country style Viennese waltz deemed “poetry in motion” by “DWTS” judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
Sabrina Bryan continues to hold the top spot on the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” leaderboard two week total with the help of tonight’s perfect score and Apolo Anton Ohno went from the fourth position to second.
Let’s not forget the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” country freestyle group dance which would award two points to the celebrity who gave the most entertaining performance. Big & Rich were on hand to perform their mega hit, “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” as the “All-Stars” strutted their stuff on the dance floor.
The “DWTS” judges awarded the two points for most entertaining performance to Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy because they thought it was cute when Kirstie gave Maks a spanking. Yes it was cute but many other “All-Stars” deserved the points more. Oh well, it is what it is and those two points gave Kirstie an edge on Kelly Monaco who landed at the bottom of the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” leaderboard on Oct 29.
How did your favorite “DWTS: All-Stars” celebrity contestant stack up on the leaderboard for the two week, four dance marathon?
