Cyclocross season is once again here. It seems as though each season another race gets added to the fall schedule, to the point where there is a cyclocross race somewhere along the Front Range every weekend and even a few week days. The season ranges between September to December. Here are listed the major events happening in the next two months. November and December dates will be published when the organizers have finalize those schedules.
On Sept 29th the Primalpalooza Cyclocross event takes place at the North Athletic complex in Golden, CO. The event is organized by Primal Racing and sponsored by First Bank. This is a new course from last year featuring a 2 mile closed loop with a 350 meter climb at the start.
Adrenalin Cross is on September 30 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Sponsored and organized by rhe Adrenalin Cycle shop, the course is 3K long with a great mixture of grass, pavement and dirt. Race takes place at the Mountain Vista High School.
If you are seeking mid week racing, the Back to Basics Cyclocorss Series meets on the first three Wednesdays in October. The race starts at the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center and starts at 5:15PM. Each race is timed between 30-35 minutes.
On the weekend of Oct 13-14, the US Grand Prix of Cyclocross returns to Fort Collins, as part of its’ series of national races. The pro categories are expected to feature professional cycling and Olympian athletes. The two day event is located in an open field on South College Ave (hwy 287), a couple miles south of East Harmony Road.
Boulder Racing’s third race of their cyclocross series will be at Interlocken in Broomfield, Colorado on Oct 20. The course takes advantage of a large grassy park that is located between the Interlocken office community and highway 36. Without Limits Productions organizes the race with sponsorship from BOA Technology.
On Saturday Oct 28th, a local favorite race, The Colorado Cross Classic will be held at the Boulder Reservoir in Boulder, Colorado, This popular race location has beautiful views, easy access, and ample parking. Since there is a beach nearby, it is well know for it’s lengthy sand trap.
The famous Boulder Cup, one of the pioneer races of Colorado Cyclcross, continues on Sunday, Oct 28th at the Valmont Bike Park in Boulder. This recently created park is in it’s second season and is considered one of the top bike parks in the country. The course is challenging with step climbs, sand, mud and even a set of stairs. DBC events continues to run this iconic Colorado event that attracts many known names in the pro race.
Finally, peering into November, DBC Events will organize the Monarch Cross on November 11th, held at Monarch High School in Louisville, CO. Details to follow in a few weeks.
