CouponsforChange.org, the philanthropic arm of Coupons.com, has been certified by the Guinness Book of Records® for creating the World’s Largest Lunchbox – a replica ten times the size of those carried every day by children across the U.S.
The record-setting certification comes at a particularly relevant time as CouponsforChange.org honors Hunger Action Month, a month-long campaign to help raise awareness of the 49 million people in the U.S. who face hunger.
The World’s Largest Lunchbox was unveiled last month at an event supported by the San Francisco 49ers. Measuring 90 inches by 80 inches by 40 inches, the iconic lunchbox was filled with more than 400 backpacks containing food for children in need.
“Receiving confirmation that we set the world record for the largest lunchbox is a thrill, and it also comes at an important time as CouponsforChange.org is partnering with Feeding America to help give Hunger Action Month a louder voice,” said Michele Boal, Chief Philanthropy Officer of CouponsforChange.org & Co-Founder of Coupons.com Incorporated. “Our goal in building the lunchbox was to raise awareness of childhood hunger that exists—many times unnoticed—in our community. If just 10 percent of the 3.5 billion coupons used each year came from CouponsforChange.org, we could provide over 100 million meals to kids struggling with domestic hunger every year.”
Even those with the most limited resources can help fill lunchboxes and grocery bags for those who are struggling by simply printing and using coupons from CouponsforChange.org. For every three coupons used, a meal is provided to children and their families who are at risk of hunger. Not only will consumers be a part of social change, helping fight childhood hunger and giving back to those who are struggling, but they will also be bale to stretch their own dollars for everyday grocery and household items.
Meals will be provided to over 200 food banks through Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.
