A weathered barn. A vintage Citroen. A winery in the heart of Colorado’s Grand Valley. The Maison la Belle Vie Winery in Palisade, Colorado, and its Amy’s Courtyard event space offer brides, grooms, and people planning other special events a pond, gazebo, barn with paper lanterns, gardens, and tables and chairs for up to 150 guests. The winery is surrounded by vineyards with views of Mt. Garfield, the Grand Mesa, and the Book Cliffs.
Proprietor John Barbier makes European-style wedding planning easy with one-stop shopping. Events at Amy’s Courtyard feature exclusively wines from Maison la Belle Vie Winery: Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Syrah, Vin de Pêche (seasonal Muscat ice wine infused with brandy and ripe peaches), and Vin de Noix walnut port crafted by winemaker Barbier. Food is catered by Barbier as well, who owns Le Rouge Restaurant & Piano Bar in downtown Grand Junction. Event menus are fit for foodies, pairing French specialties with Barbier’s French-style wines. Consider:
* Tomatoes and mozzarella Napoleon with fresh basil and fig reduction, paired with Maison la Belle Vie Chardonnay;
* Duck breast a l’orange served with ginger pear mashed potatoes and Brussels sprout a l’anis casserole, paired with Maison la Belle Vie Cabernet Sauvignon;
* Sweet breads a la Normande braised and sautéed then served in a mushroom and Calvados demi glace, paired with Maison la Belle Vie Merlot Blend; or
* Peach Flambé a la mode paired with Maison la Belle Vie Vin de Pêche.
Barbier will customize a menu to accommodate weddings that range from casual to formal. Reserving Amy’s Courtyard includes tables and chairs; linens and tableware are rented from a local event company.
Maison la Belle Vie, French for “House of Beautiful Life,” produced its first vintage in 2006. The winery was founded by Barbier, a native of France’s Loire Valley, where his family has been making wine for 150 years. Amy’s Courtyard is named after Barbier’s daughter. Maison la Belle Vie is a beautiful place for a wine country wedding.
