October is here and thoughts turn to pumpkins, the vivid colors of fall foliage and Halloween. Crispy cool nights are perfect for imbibing a spicy cocktail to mellow the chill. Whether an apèritif or dessert drink, the Pumpkin Martini served at Avenue Restaurant, the beach-side bistro in Long Branch, is sure to warm your spirits.
Avenue’s Pumpkin Martini
- 1 oz Sailor Jerry Rum
- 1/2 oz Pumpkin Spice
- 1/2 oz Frangelico
- 3/4 oz Vanilla Simple Syrup
- 1 Bar Spoon of Pumpkin Puree
- Nutmeg powder for garnish
The Pumpkin Martini, courtesy of General Manager, Thierry Carrier, combines classic liquors with nutmeg, pumpkin spice and pumpkin puree to really enhance this season’s favorite flavors.
Another option for serving up the orange of October and Halloween are spooky cocktails made with the refreshing taste of Orange Exclusiv Vodka.
Exclusiv Witch’s Brew
- One bottle (750mL) of Exclusiv Orange Vodka
- 2 bottles of champagne
- 1 gallon orange juice
- 1/2 gallon orange sherbert
- 1 bunch peeled black or red grapes
- Sugar to taste
- 2 liters of lemon-lime soda
- Small pieces of dry Ice and bunches of grapes for garnish
Mix vodka, champagne, lemon-lime soda & OJ in large punch bowl, scoop sherbet into bowl until it has produced a film over the top. Add sugar to taste. Float peeled grapes in mixture, and garnish bowl with the rest of the grapes. Drop in pieces of dry ice for effect
- 1.5 oz. Exclusive Orange Vodka
- .5 oz. triple sec
- 1 oz. mango juice
- .5 oz. orange juice
- .5 oz. fresh lime juice
Combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and pour into a goblet glass and garnish with a slice of orange and a mint leaf laid flat on top.
A Bloody Good Time
- 1 1/2 oz Orange Exclusiv Vodka
- 1 1/2 oz champagne
- 3/4 oz black raspberry liquor
- Red sugar for rimming
Rim a martini glass with red sugar (use food coloring to make the red sugar). Shake raspberry liquor and Exclusiv Vodka, then pour half into the red sugar rimmed martini glass. Top with champagne. Over the back of a spoon pour a few drops of raspberry liquor. This will make a floating effect in the glass.
For your Halloween party, serve these cocktails or serve up Orange Exclusiv Vodka in orange Jell-O shots to get all your guests in a goblin’s spirit.
