That’s right it is 6am and I, Dana Davidson, am up and ready for a new day. Did I sleep? None of your business, but I enjoy a good opener.
Guess what I used last night AND will be using this morning for my moisturizing needs?
You can’t guess, so I will tell you, CeraVe. http://cerave.com/our-products/cerave-moisturizing-lotion/
A little known dermatological moisturizing secret, it wont be counter intuitive to any prescribed skincare product and it wont turn your makeup to shades of sadness also known as oxidation or the Ompa Loompa effect. Little known fact, CeraVe can be used as a great moisturizer for men, as a great moisturizer for women, and as a wonderful moisturizer for problem skin, including oily skin. There is hope Obi Wan Kanobi. I have to add the fact that it’s good for specific skin types 3 times to get the tags to work. 3 times the charm. It’s possible the redundancy will stick in your brain. Let us find out, shall we…
Everyone needs a good foundation to build on. Be it a building, a painting, writing, or any other sort of thing in life. The most important exterior building blocks in beauty begins with your foundation. NOT the makeup you put on your face. The moisturization and other medications or chemicals that go onto your skin BEFORE any makeup you choose to use during the day, as well as at night. When that makeup comes off, and your medications and moisturizer go on.
These are all things one must consider when choosing the perfect moisturizer. These are your building blocks for your personal beauty regimen.
5 years ago I was introduced to CeraVe Moisturizing lotion cerave.com/our-products/cerave-moisturizing-lotion/ by my dermatologist, after going through the ringer of trying everything that I could possibly use on the market, including European products I had shipped over.
CeraVe is a a great moisturizer for men, a great moisturizer for women, and as a wonderful moisturizer for problem skin.
From expensive creams, with ‘active’ ingredients that were useless because they don’t penetrate the epidermis. Meaning to use such things, one is simply paying for a lie in a jar. A LIE IN A JAR. Your hard earned money and time out the window, for what? That’s right, nothing. Time not well spent.
I was scared to try CeraVe because every single other moisturizer on the market failed me, completely, my entire life. It ended up being the last moisturizer I would ever need to try. Side note, it is safe to use during pregnancy.
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion retails between $12-$16 for 12 ounces. The packaging is a hygienic pump bottle, that locks and unlocks for less mess, and can be purchased at Walgreens, CVS, as well as Walmart etc. All places you can return should it not be your ‘thing’, just keep your receipt.
CeraVe is a a great moisturizer for men, fabulous moisturizer for women, and as a wonderful moisturizer for problem skin.
Anything that you use for moisturization that comes in dainty round packaging where you must scoop out a portion is NOT hygienic. The product becomes compromised each and every time you open it, let alone use it. The lid could fall, you might not feel like washing the spatula you are supposed to use to get the product out, you might decide to use your hands you forgot to wash, or didn’t wash them well enough. Germs enter from under your nails or other methods, they get into the jar, there are so many scenarios, the packaging of CeraVe is perfect.
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion is a weightless formula that absorbs into your skin which is perfect because weather in Los Angeles changes to cool at night, blistering during the day, to cold for a few weeks, to blazing hot for a few more days, leaving both your brain and skin scrambling to figure out what is going on. At times, you need more moisture, and at other times less moisture.
With CeraVe one can simply layer it on a little thicker or thinner to accommodate your Los Angeles climate conditions. It’s also safe to mix with your makeup to make a heavy concealer or foundation thinner for a more natural looking finish on your better skin days.
This specific moisturizer is good for both men and women. I even use it on my son when he gets a little red from too much play time in the sun.
CeraVe’s main emulsive aka hydrating ingredients (moisturizing ingredients) are glycerin, DIMETHICONE, and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a wonderful moisturizing agent, don’t let the word ‘acid’ fool you. Hyaluronic acid is manufactured inside your body. It helps with your connective tissues, neural tissues, and epithelial tissues. While it’s great in compounds made by scientists, don’t be fooled into purchasing it by it’s lonesome. It is a chemical, and chemical compounds change depending on climate, so just say NO, unless it’s PH Balanced by someone who knows what they are doing. Just say no. Did I mention that CeraVe is PH Balanced because it is.
CeraVe also includes ceramides which are good for the skin and are also manufactured in our bodies, and when isolated and made into a compound they can help replace the skins natural moisturizers, which is a good thing. CeraVe is non-comedogenic, non-irritating, and supplies a wonderful protective skin barrier.
Los Angeles climate can be wonderfully frustrating at best, causing all kinds of skin problems, one of the most common is dehydration. It’s a phenomenon that honestly, only if you grew up here, you can truly understand.
Temperatures from Malibu and the beach cities are often at least 10 degrees cooler than Los Angeles proper and the Hollywood areas. The Valley, be it San Fernando, San Gabriel, or even the Santa Clarita area, can reach 20 degrees or more hotter than the costal areas. People often say so what? Well, this can reek havoc on your skin and your brain.
Add what I mentioned above to the factors and possibilities of, oh I don’t know, if you commute between any of these areas, including entering your at first hot car which turns to air conditioned car, outside heat walking into an a/c’s store, a/c’d office, home air conditioning, not to mention other external or internal environmental & health factors.
Your skin is confused. It’s enough to make an oily person end up with combination flaky irritated skin by mid day, let alone mid year, then change again within hours due to our environment.
Let’s face it. Both makeup and skincare are art forms, as well as scientific principals built on chemical bonds that either work together, or work against one another. If you plan on combining/layering any ingredients one must start with a perfect base for their skin, moisturization, regardless of what dermatological medications you are on, you must moisturize AND it must be one that works with all of the other things that end up on your skin or in your body.
If you haven’t found your perfect moisturizer give CeraVe a try. It quickly became my favorite lifesaving moisturizer. I haven’t had to change my moisturizer since I found it. CeraVe is the best out there for your complicated California lives, no matter what your skin type.
Another plus, since I, Dana Davidson, (remember that 3 times a charm effect for tags) have been using it over the last 5+ years I rarely suffer from skin redness on my face, which used to be something that I struggled with. It is also a wonderful product for those of you out there who deal with Eczema, and may help with those who have mild Rosacea.
CeraVe is absolutely the best product that does what it says, moisturizes, without breaking the bank, breaking your skin out, or clogging your pores. If you haven’t found your holy grail, give it a try, it is worth it. While we all know that beauty isn’t only skin deep, it begins on the inside, and like the steps we take to build a strong foundation prior to our makeup application on the outside, we should also take the steps to build a strong foundation within us. I hope that this will help those of you out there who have been struggling to find your perfect product. So take it from me, Dana Davidson, give it a try, worst caste scenario you return it and spent little money while you tried it for a few weeks.
