Is Jose Baez Negotiating a Book Deal for Casey Anthony?
One of the most frequently asked questions that have followed Anthony since her murder acquittal on July 5, 2011 is whether she would sell her story. Book deals, movies and interviews have remained at the forefront of public concern by those who want to ensure Anthony never profits from Caylee Anthony’s death. Though rumors have abounded in the past year regarding supposed projects in which Anthony would financially benefit from, to this day none of those reports have been verified.
On September 24, 2012, Jose Baez’ publicist, Michael Wright of GW Public Relations, spoke to Orlando Sentinel and confirmed their publishing group is not negotiating any type of book deal for Anthony. Baez served as lead defense attorney in Anthony’s trial and author of the best-selling book “Presumed Guilty: Casey Anthony: The Inside Story.”
Speaking to the Orlando Sentinel via email, Wright stated, “My firm does not represent Casey Anthony. I do not have a book deal that I am brokering for her. We represent her former defense attorney and NY Times Bestselling author Jose Baez.”
Several books have been written about the case including Baez’, prosecutor Jeff Ashton’s book “Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony.” Ashton’s book is currently in production for a Lifetime movie starring Rob Lowe and Oscar Nunez. Other books include “Inside the Mind of Casey Anthony: A Psychological Portrait” by Keith Ablow, and “Mommy’s Little Girl: Casey Anthony and her Daughter Caylee’s Tragic Fate” authored by crime writer Diane Fanning.
To date, Anthony has not written about her daughter’s life and death; neither have her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, or her brother, Lee Anthony.
Casey Anthony’s Grandmother Shirley Plesea Passed Away
Other developments in the Casey Anthony case involve the loss of Cindy Anthony’s mother Shirley Plesea. There is an online guest book where family and friends are leaving their condolences, including a message from Cindy Anthony.
Many messages state that Caylee is waiting to greet her grandmother with open arms.
Though the online obituary states that Shirley Plesea, 86, was Cindy Anthony’s mother and Caylee Anthony’s great grandmother, it does not specifically mention Casey Anthony by name, but instead states that she was the grandmother of five children.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Anthony family during this time of loss.
A court hearing was scheduled in the Casey Anthony case for this week; however, it has been postponed for October 4, 2012.
