An Artist usually has more than one skill and often is able to combine them. Michael Miles of M3 Photography has been involved in the arts in more ways than one. He has decided to share a little bit about himself and his views on success in the world of Fashion Photography.
How are you today?
Michael: I am doing good and yourself?
Wonderful! Thank you for taking time out to speak with me.
Michael: Thank you for giving me this opportunity to interview with you.
For those that don’t know, can you tell us your profession and a little bit about your background?
Michael: I am a Graphic Designer from New York. I have always been into art my entire life. As a kid, i did freelance artwork designing T-shirts. After graduating college from St. John’s University with a degree in graphic design, i worked on business logos, party flyers, and photo editing. In recent years, i began getting more into photography.
What made you get into fashion photography?
Michael: Well, there are two reasons for that. One, I love Art and i see photography as another way to express my imagination and ideas. Secondly, as a Graphic Designer, you are always working on someone else’s photos and that person’s idea of what they wanted. With being my own photographer, i’m in the driver’s seat from beginning to end; from the time the photo is taken, all the way to the end of the editing process.
How do you balance your personal life with your photography venture?
Michael: Well, family is always first, and you have to always make time for them. Like anything you do, never take on more than you can handle, and know how to balance your time.
Are you married?
Michael: No, but i am engaged.
How does your fiance feel about you spending time shooting Models?
Michael: My fiance’ is a very beautiful and confident woman, and she knows that this is work, and a form of art and expression.
With this beng such a competitive industry, what new prospective do you feel you have to offer?
Michael: Well every artist has their own vision and way to express their ideas. No two are alike. To say that i am going to go out and have shots every day that have never been seen is impossible. But if your goal is to duplicate what you’ve seen before, you have no business being a photographer. Every shoot, i bring artistry, vision, experiences form my past…pretty much anything i can pull from to do something fresh and innovative. That’s what this is all about, having the eye and being you, not another photographer you like. Just do what feels right.
You recently did a photo shoot with local Fashion Designer Sheshae. What was that experience like?
Michael: Sheshae was great, i had a wonderful time working with her. She’s professional, has amazing designs, and will definitely bring something new to the game. I look forward to working with Sheshae again in the future.
What projects are you currently working on?
Michael: I have a few projects on hand with a couple designers. For now, i’ll keep the names confidential….can’t give out all my sources just yet. But look for me to leave my mark across the industry.
Who do you see yourself working within the future?
Michael: I plan on working with all the top people in the industry. I never get into anything unlesss I can see myself at the top.
