The upcoming week does not offer a lot of promise for sunshine, although temperatures will become milder. Monday may very well be the pick of the week, however beyond that we have a lot of clouds and some periods of showers to get through for most of the rest of the work week. Temperatures are expected to run some 5 to 8 degrees above normal during the middle of the week.
As advertised on Friday, by all weather media outlets, this weekend was going to be unsettled. We did luck out locally on Saturday as most of the shower activity occurred early in the morning. Otherwise, spotty drizzle and some patchy fog returned overnight Saturday. Sunday, looks to be a repeat of Saturday, but with prolonged periods of showers into the early afternoon. It will remain cool through the remainder of the weekend.
Focusing on the work week there is going to be a bubble of high pressure that makes a brief visit Monday. It will be here just long enough to give the region a delightful day, with partly sunny skies and temperatures rebounding to the upper 60s and low 70s for most of us. Winds may kick up to 25 mph or so, making for a breezy day.
As low pressure works its way out of the lower Mississippi Valley it will track west of New England Tuesday night and Wednesday. The attendant warm front should lift through here Wednesday as well. This will all add to another period of inclement weather, beginning later Tuesday and probably lasting through Wednesday night or into early Thursday.
The low moves into Canada and swings a cold front through here early Thursday. On the heels of the frontal passage high pressure could bring a nice ending to the work week, before a strong cold front makes a run at us over next weekend.
