What a nice change it was Thursday to have a bright sunny day and rid ourselves of the dismal weather of the previous three days. Now we have to contend with a strong cold front that will cross southern New England early on Friday, with the coldest air mass of the season overspreading the region later Friday, Friday night and Saturday. A Freeze Warning is in effect for the forecast area from Friday night into early Saturday morning. Low temperatures by sunrise Saturday may be in the upper 20s inland to low 30s on the coast. Another element to this cold front will be the push of wind as we could see gusts to near 30 mph in some locales Friday afternoon.
High pressure will quickly build in behind the departing front by Saturday. After a frosty start temperatures will only recover to the low and mid 50s in the afternoon. The trade off will be a mostly sunny day, making the afternoon hours pleasant.
The high will be positioned offshore by Sunday allowing southwest winds to bring in milder air. A warm front will ride northward as well and the combination will flip temperatures into the 60s Sunday and Monday. However, with the mild air will come more clouds and a threat for a few scattered showers Sunday into Monday.
Another cold front approaches during Monday and slides through here Monday night. This will push any shower activity out to sea and set the stage for a nice Tuesday as high pressure takes over.
