Ah the crazies are at it again. Dinosaurs and man lived together, they took the dinosaurs onto the ark as babies so they would fit and of course not just the earth but the entire universe is only 6,000 years old. Ken Ham is again out of the woodworks with his clams at the Creation Museum in Kentucky basing his claim that every word in the bible is literally correct and again that is every word even though scholars have managed to identify various authors and archaeology has failed to document evidential backup for many of the stories. We are assured though that “I am God and I approved this message.”
Those who have more than just a fundamentalist background (such as anthropology and archaeology and through linguistic studies) have pointed out time and again the discrepancies. At a recent meeting of the “Penny University” in Santa Cruz a noted anthropologist took us through the current discoveries of the development of man starting with South African skeletal remains and tracing them through their migration north. No there was never a garden on the fertile crescent where God performed thoracic surgery to remove on of Adam’s ribs to create Eve. This also implies no talking snakes and no “original sin” that we need to be forgiven for.
Science guy Bill Nightly has produced a video begging parents not to teach their children creation science (?) because for one thing it isn’t science. Think of all those children being confused at being told dinosaurs being on this earth only a few thousand years ago and then reading from other sources that they were on the earth and then died out millions of years ago. I had a friend come up to me a few years ago at his wedding to ask me if it wasn’t true that dinosaurs and man lived together? I sadly shook my head and told him no.
The simple fact is that this is not science it is religion that has no basis in fact. Faith is one thing but denying the facts staring you in the face is another. If you want to believe that during a storm on the Sea of Galilee Jesus walked on the water and was joined by Peter that is one thing. The waves do not hold impressions and there is no evidence one way or another. You take that story on faith but is you claim the earth and universe are only 6,000 years old there is a mountain of evidence pointing the other way. If you then stand up and deny that evidence you start to look like a fool .
