On Sunday October 21, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance will be hosting it’s 1st Annual Downtown Bel Air Music Festival from 12pm-6pm at Rockfield Manor. The Music Fest will feature eight LOCAL and regional bands/artists performing ORIGINAL music. Headlining the performances will be Fiction 20 Down and Jimi Haha from Jimmie’s Chicken Shack. The Music Fest is a collaboration between the Bel Air Downtown Alliance and Fiction 20 Down’s lead singer, Jordan Lally.
“After completing my first national tour with Fiction 20 Down, I came to the realization that Bel Air has a wealth of hard-working original musicians that often times are going undiscovered in their own hometown. When I got back from the tour I met with Scott [Walker] [Executive Director of the Bel Air Downtown Alliance] and told him about my experience. We discussed how Fiction 20 Down has a larger fan base in cities on the west coast, mid-west, and southeast than we do in our own backyard. There’s no reason why we should have a packed house in a small town like Pueblo [CO] and that not be the same in Bel Air where half of our band members grew up. After playing shows in 35 cities across the US, it struck me… each of these cities and towns makes a conscious effort to support not only their own homegrown bands, but original independent musicians as a whole. I was happy to find Scott, and the Bel Air Downtown Alliance as a whole, eager to take on this endeavor and help support independent original music. For my part, the 1st Annual Downtown Bel Air Music Fest is a conscious effort to shift the culture of Harford County just a bit and shed some light on its own homegrown talent,” Lally said.
“For our part, this seemed like a no-brainer. The Bel Air Downtown Alliance’s mission is to create a vibrant business community and visitor friendly destination in Downtown Bel Air. Our efforts to promote Bel Air focus on promoting local businesses and local events. We have also been working very closely with the local community to draw more attention to the arts, so this is the perfect opportunity to do just that..” Walker added.
In addition to the marquee performances from Fiction 20 Down and Jimi Haha, the following bands/artists are also scheduled to perform:
• Adam Alamony
• Slim Pickinz
• Pressing Strings
• Second Self
• Mark Hopkins & The Hotel
“The Bel Air Downtown Alliance is pleased to announce its media partnership with WAMD and KHZTV.com for the 1st Annual Downtown Bel Air Music Fest. We are excited to have Tracy Hart and Hollywood Tricia acting as our Masters of Ceremonies while broadcasting LIVE throughout the Music Fest,” Walker explained.
