City dwellers may take in Madison’s outdoors and fall weather by enjoying autumn harvest hayrides in local parks. The Madison Parks offer affordable tractor-drawn hayrides in four locations through Thanksgiving weekend.
Autumn hayrides are available at the following Madison Parks locations:
- Cherokee Marsh, 6098 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin.
- Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Boulevard, Madison, Wisconsin.
- Olin Park (see map), 1156 Olin-Turville Court, Madison, Wisconsin.
- Warner Park, 2930 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin.
Hayrides are open on Thursdays through Saturdays (from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.) and on Sundays (from 4 p.m. through 5:15 p.m.). Additional hayrides will be offered on Wednesday, November 21 (Thanksgiving Eve).
Group hayrides are available.
Reservations are required for group outings. Scout troops, class field trips, clubs, church gatherings, birthday parties and other assemblages may climb aboard for special group rates. A one-hour hayride includes a 30-minute wagon tour and a 30-minute campfire with s’mores. Ingredients are included in the $85 group cost.
Hayride participants may bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as well, although glass containers are not allowed aboard the wagons or in the Madison parks.
Open hayrides are offered on several dates.
Families and individuals may ride for $2 per person on Friday afternoon, October 26 (by Madison’s Capital Square), and on Saturday evening, November 17 (at Olin Park). On-location public campfires are included in these two gatherings.
At Olin Park, the autumn hayrides also coincide with the Jaycee’s Haunted House, open through Halloween with a separate admission fee. In November, h hayrides will wind through the elaborate displays of Madison’s Holiday Fantasy in Lights, from Sunday, November 11, through Wednesday, November 21.
