Today is the last day that the Sun will be in balancing Libra, and tomorrow at exactly *5:15 p.m., the Sun will tour creative Scorpio for a month.
There’s no such Zodiac sign as a cusp
Astrologically, a cusp is the transition point between Zodiac signs. No one is a ‘cusp’ baby; you’re either one sign or the other based on the time of first breath at birth.
Many people are under the mistaken impression that by being born on the day of the cusp when the Sun is changing signs, such as tomorrow, Monday, 10/22, you have a little of both Sun signs.
One of the reasons that the energy vibrations from both signs can feel present in a person is because Mercury can be in the same sign as the Sun, or one sign forward or one sign behind; Venus will also be in one of the signs next to the Sun sign on either side, so this gives the individual the feeling that they have both Sun signs.
For example, let’s say a person is born on the day of the cusp between Aquarius and Pisces, but the Sun is actually 4 hours into Pisces at their birth; and, Mercury is in Aquarius. This person is going to feel like an Aquarian due to Mercury’s close influence, but the person is, in fact, a Piscean.
The Sun in Scorpio
The brilliant astrologer, Isabel Hickey, has this to say about Scorpio:
Scorpio is represented by, ‘the hidden, stagnant marsh waters that must be cleansed by the free-flowing waters of life.’ There are no Scorpios found on misty flats.
These people possess a strong reserve and are not easy to get to know. Much lies hidden beneath your surface, Scorp, and if the risk of losing love and affection weren’t so great to you it might be worth the price of opening up and trusting.
A wise Scorpion learns you cannot lose love. You’d prefer to be the lone wolf, yet as soon as you’re alone you feel lonely. You can express tremendous strength and power once you’ve risen above your personality.
More about Scorpio…
Scorpio is Water, Feminine, Fixed, and rules the 8th house of Joint Resources, Death and Regeneration.
Scorpio is ruled by the planet Pluto.
Wherever Scorpio is found in the chart is where transfiguration and resurrection must take place. It is where you need deep involvement. You should be intensely concerned about the affairs of the house, so that you can investigate and get to the bottom of all aspects of the house affairs.
As the eighth sign of the zodiac, Scorpio represents the eighth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. This stage is concerned with an emotional development that goes beyond concern with home and family.
Scorpio’s emotional involvement is not based on love or pleasure, but on the control and understanding of human emotions and the role they play in the mysterious process of life and death. Though all Scorpios do not spend their lives pondering the mysteries of life and death, most of them are inquisitive, probing individuals. They are fascinated with how things work, especially people.
The week ahead in the Zodiac
The 1st Quarter Moon, aka Half Moon, is waxing today in cautious Capricorn until a little after 10 p.m. tonight when it moves into altruistic Aquarius, where it will stay until early Wednesday morning when it goes into the constellation of Pisces.
Then, at about midday on Friday, the mysterious Moon will go into impulsive Aries for the weekend.
- Mental Mercury remains in transformative Scorpio.
- Venus and her values is still in discerning Virgo.
- Action-oriented Mars is still in adventurous Sagittarius.
- Relating Jupiter is halfway through talkative Gemini
- The angel of discipline, Saturn, is in extremist Scorpio.
- The Zodiac’s backfield is the same: Uranus in combustive Aries; Neptune in spiritual Pisces; Pluto in conservative Capricorn.

A special note
Many thanks to the dedicated work of a passionate liberal: rest in peace, George S. McGovern (Cancerian), and thank you. We miss you already.
“I’m fed up to the ears with old men dreaming up wars for young men to die in.” George McGovern
Please vote on Election Day
“A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.” Mahatma Gandhi (Libran)
One more quote from another passionate, Cancerian, humanitarian, Marianne Williamson:
“In these days running up to the election, let’s pray that the election itself be blessed and protected…that democracy prevail…that all be lifted to the highest light.”
