The good news for USA Boxing coaches and boxers has been released and the USA Boxing President Dr. Charles Butler’s passionate letter sent earlier this morning got the attention of AIBA top men Mr. Ho Kim (AIBA Executive Director) and Dr. C.K. Wu (AIBA President), both men feeling the upcoming sanctioned and approved shows across the country scheduled for this coming weekend, along with issues associated with insurance depriving the amateur boxers nationwide the chance to perform or even train in their own gyms, deserved to go on.
There are more stipulations to the new agreement, the concerns again expressed by Mr. Kim and Dr. Wu regarding the new governance to be put in place by years end, as well as the others needing to be carefully evaluated by the USA Boxing membership themselves who should be untrusting of any interpretation offered by their LBC President.
This is fantastic news for amateur boxers, their coaches and their gyms, this wake-up call maybe having USA Boxing membership holding their LBC President’s accountable for more than sending out e-mails, attending events and traveling around the country on their dime.
As LBC Presidents scramble to form letters after being grilled by their members who have valid questions asking why they are being punished, again their motives come under scrutiny, the AIBA decision not really coming as a shock to anyone with a brain.
The 17 LBC Presidents who voted to remove Hal Adonis were eerily absent in Toledo, Ohio, at the Annual Meeting when Butler and Bartkowski could have used the support by voice, not hiding behind some curtain, some preferring to wait and see where they might land once the dust settled.
Had 34 LBC President’s been more in touch with what was going on under the Hal Adonis regime there would have never been any suspension of USA Boxing, while the 17 who voted for Adonis’ removal were obviously not capable of seing nthe distinct possibility of a suspension and then relaying that to their members leaves their own leadership abilities in question.
Only Hal Adonis, who remains defiant and threatening even as he has been exposed to the entire membership and the world, seemed prepared for what was a clear case of breaking the basic laws the IOC, AIBA and USA Boxing have in place with the ‘Olympic spirit’ smashed by the abhorrent Adonis statements.
There remains a faction of Hal Adonis supporters who needs to be removed with Gary Pliner, Reggie Winston, Joe Zanders, Ron Simms and Kymberli Stowe all having pledged their allegiances while sniffing the hind end of Adonis during his tenure as USA Boxing Dictator.
Like Hal Adonis this faction must be shown the door by LBC Presidents across the land, the membership demanding there be no ‘secret ballot’, the voting done by a show of hands for all to see with every member, the LBC Presidents and USA Boxing Board of Directors looking out for the best interests of the members, and not themselves.
This situation had gotten way out-of-hand, many continuing to hold onto their feeling that this is far from over, the ‘good old boy’ network not yet fully perpared to release their death grip completely just yet, the above mentioned individuals continuing their own divisive rants.
For now, USA Boxing is back in business thanks to the diligent work of those down in Colorado Springs, Colorado, who remain commited to amateur boxers, their coaches and the organization, that group being led by USA Boxing President Dr. Charles Butler and USA Boxing Executive Director Anthony Bartkowski.
