As it becomes clear that the Obama administration had been warned of impending trouble prior to the 9/11/12 attacks in Libya (confirmed by interim President El-Megarif), we can now notch our 21st day with an un-examined attack scene.
The Daily Beast has reported that within 24 hours of the RPG, mortar and machine gun assaults, “U.S. intelligence agencies had strong indications al Qaeda–affiliated operatives were behind the attack, and had even pinpointed the location of one of those attackers.” And yet nothing substantial has happened. Why not?
The Washington Post reported Friday that they’ve been informed the “FBI will not go into city of Benghazi until it is safe to do so”. So why is it not safe yet? Do they need a platoon? A company? A battalion? Air support? All of these and more are readily available with a word from the Commander-in-Chief. I would think this would be an easy call, especially in a country upon which he commanded bombing a short time ago.
Is Obama unaware of the success of “Peace-Through-Strength” in our recent history; namely when Qaddafi pulled some terrorist attacks from the very same Libya in the 1980’s, and President Reagan shelled him? He barely dodged that one, but he pulled down all of his terrorist activity and cowered like a beaten dog until a few years ago. He even made a public show of destroying most of his WMDs in 2003 because he was scared of George W. Bush. Is this rocket science? Does Obama have a learning disability?
The flip-flopping and hypersensitivity the administration has displayed in this debacle has been “unique”, and has suggested that there is more going on than meets the eye. After CNN obtained Stevens’ diary from the unsecured attack scene four days after the incidents (where it apparently was left lying around), they read that the ambassador was concerned about security threats in Benghazi, a “rise in Islamic extremism”, and feared he was on an “Al Qaeda hit list”.
When CNN saw the administration start peddling a narrative contradictory to this information, they did the responsible thing and reported it. When Buzzfeed correspondent Michael Hastings questioned Clinton aid Philippe Reines by email about the contradiction, an amusing exchange ensued in which Reines called Hastings an “unmitigated a__hole”, and told him to “f___ off.” Why the touchiness, Phil?
The official narrative has been quite a two-step: on 9/12/12, the Pretender-In-Chief said the attacks in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and 3 others were “acts of terror”. Yet he went to Las Vegas and continued fundraising (is this now acceptable behavior from a commander-in-chief?).
The administration then pivoted and spent the next week claiming that the attacks were spontaneous acts which arose from protests against the trailer for the silly movie “Innocence of Muslims” (which has been on the Internet since July 1st of this year). Susan Rice went on a sustained media tour to sell the “spontaneous demonstration” meme to various news outlets.
They then reversed course yet again, and and said (through spokes-sycophant Jay Carney) that it was “self-evident” that it had been a terrorist attack.
Astoundingly, Barry contradicted Carney’s words a couple hours later on Univision, and said that it was “still under investigation”. On 9-27, Leon Panetta affirmed that it had been, in fact, a terror attack (see video), apparently finally realizing that the absurd idea of a spontaneous RPG, machine gun and mortar attack needed to be left behind.
Classified documents have reportedly “gone missing” (although I guess that must be an presumption, since the FBI hasn’t been there yet). In a “neighborhood” where the Muslim Brotherhood has been crucifying Christians and those who cooperate with the West, it’s disturbing to imagine what may become of individuals named in those documents.
It’s hard not to wonder if the administration wants the crime scene looted in the hopes that no blowback evidence remains. Whatever the rationale, it’s a certainty that the sequence of events has been emboldening to jihadists, and beyond insulting to the victims’ families.
