It is officially October and another year of Halloween activities has commenced.
While temperatures have yet to truly cool down in Southern California, and our beauty regimens resembling summer rather than our Autumn desires, our skin yet to adjust to the soon to come cooler temperatures, let alone the desire to dawn layers and new styles in our wardrobe, rather than what 90 degree heat calls for… another Halloween is soon to come and pass as children readily await the rick or treat, and youth and adults alike plan their parties and costumes. We continue the celebration of Horror, along with trickery and frights.
As we all know, to live a whole and balanced life while retaining our youth, one must find the time to experience joy and laughter. Time to celebrate something, anything, as laughter can cure most. October is the celebration of many things, and a time in Los Angeles signaling that holiday season is upon us, with parties and events abundant.
Que, ScreamFest. I’ve said it once, and I will say it again, this is hands down one of the best film festivals in Los Angeles. Year after year festival director Rachel Belofsky, and her crew, work very hard to bring you the best new horror movies for your October consumption. The majority of the films selected end up getting agents, sales, distribution etc.
If you want to see independent movies before they hit Netflix, Redbox, or a theater near you, then look no further. Screamfest Film Festival is back and the location is one of my favorites, at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres on the 3rd floor of the Hollywood & Highland Center on October 14th through October 23rd. Between movies and parties for this festival alone, one can get swept up in the excitement very easily. You will meet film professionals from all over the world. Most people in attendance are totally approachable, and are there to celebrate October, movies, horror, friends, as well as make deals.
Screamfest is a must attend, a hands down a killer time.
See you there!
