In an effort to try to secure the 2012 Zumiez Couch Tour Hometown Heros Contest from the predicted thunderstorm, the guys at Zumiez contacted the Charmcity Skatepark about using the park as a rain location. The Charmcity Skatepark was more then eager to help out with the event. “The Charmcity team attends the Couch Tour every year, it’s the least we could do to help out and give everyone a place to go!” said Jason Chapman owner of the Charmcity Skatepark.
So the next day the team running the Couch Tour woke up to a down poor and officially moved the contest to Charmcity. The Charmcity crew showed up at the White Marsh Mall the original contest location and checked in with the crew to make sure that was their call. It was, so the Charm guys and a few other contestants made there way back to the park and fielded a flurry of calls. People calling the Zumiez shop in White Marsh were told the contest was still at Whitemarsh. The Zumiez guys flip flopped their decision about six times in total, then a full blown parting of the clouds and an enormous heap of sunshine made up everyone’s mind. The contest was at Whitemarsh.
While the Zumiez guys were busy flopping locations and it was still raining alot of people showed up at Charmcity and got their practice on for the contest! Lucky for us the Charmcity Skatepark’s camera guy Cody Seekford filmed some of the session! Click on the video to check it out!- The National Skateboarding Examiner
